Minutes of the meeting on June 2, 2008 of the Historical Preservation Board of the TOWN OF ORCHARD PARK, Municipal Center, Supervisor’s Conference Room, 4295 South Buffalo Street, Orchard Park, New York at 7:00 PM, present were the following:

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Ransom.
A motion was made to approve the minutes of the May meeting with changes noted by Mr. Stoj and seconded by Ms. Foit-Albert.

THE MOTION WAS UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED,
a) Raised $2,000 to date.
b) David Kaczor met with Senator Dale Volker / Harry Wahl whom will fund between $10,000 and $12,000 from his office.
c) David Kaczor met with Town Board members who are willing to fund up to $7,500.
d) Request for Qualifications (RFQ) – will be reviewed by the Historical Preservation Board and then make recommendations to the Town Board who will in turn make a determination. Chairman Ransom will reach out to Julian Adams for RFQ process assistance.
e) Application was sent to Chairman Ransom from Julian Adams and is to be completed for the CLB Grant program.
Chairman Dan Ransom and Town Historian Suzanne Kulp met with the Economic Development Group with a proposal and presentation requesting financial support for the Cultural Survey. Their request was denied on the basis that the EDG didn’t feel the purpose of the Survey would benefit their committee’s ideals.
a) Tour of barn including Jim Jerge, his attorney, his engineer, Tom Johnson, Dan Ransom, Suzanne Kulp, Julian Adams, Mike Stock, and OP Bee reporter.
b) Suzanne Kulp and Beverly Foit-Albert will meet with Jim Jerge on Thursday June 5th at 4:00 p.m.
c) Resident Leon Zwolinski sent a letter to Planning Coordinator Remy Orffeo regarding PB file #47-07 – subdivision Smokes Creek – regarding his opinion on why the barn should not be taken over by the town.
d) Ms. Kulp suggested the barn be maintained as a barn / stable. Also suggested the house and barn should be sold together with land in 100 year flood plain.
A public hearing has been set for June 18th. Mr. John Bray sent a letter to Chairman Ransom and Supervisor Travers-Murphy noting his lack of interest in preservation of the house. Mr. Kaczor suggested that Supervisor Travers-Murphy might want to contact Benderson Development to purchase the property and possibly relocate it. Could be used for Scenic Byways headquarters, office space, etc.
The next meeting will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday July 7th. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
