Ethics Board

This volunteer Board is appointed by the Town Board and authorized by Town and New York State Law.
The five members Ethics Board must include one Town of Orchard Park employee and four residents of
the Town. Each member serves for a five year term with one members' term expiring annually. The
Ethics Board is responsible for the review of the Annual Financial Disclosure Forms filed each year
by members of Town government, whether salaried or volunteer. The Ethics Board reviews all questions
of ethical behavior brought before it and renders rulings, both advisory and disciplinary.

The Ethics Board, after two years of diligent and thoughtful research, recommended amendments
and expansion of the Town Ethics Code which were adopted by the Town Board in 2003.

ETHICS BOARD MEETINGS
The Board of Ethics meets every 3rd Thursday of each month with the following exceptions: March NO MEETING. Meeting April 1st and 17th. ">
The meetings are held in the Lobby Conference Room on the first floor of the Municipal Center unless otherwise noted. ">
PUBLIC NOTICE
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that a Public Hearing will be held by the Town Board of the Town of Orchard Park, Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 7:00 PM (local time) at the Orchard Park Municipal Center S4295 South Buffalo Street, Orchard Park, New York 14127, regarding a Proposed Local Law for the Year 2009. This local law provides for the adoption of the additions and changes to Chapter 12 of the Orchard Park Town Code "Ethics" which provides as follows: ">
§12-2 K Repeal §12-2 K: Insurance Broker's Committee is hereby repealed. ">
§12-2 K Add §12-2 K: No person shall be employed under the supervision of any party described in §12-2A, Subsections 2-5. Any person employed under the supervision of such party at the time of the adoption of this Local Law shall be exempt from this local law. ">
§12-3 A Amend: Repeal existing §12-3 A and replace with: the following individuals shall submit an annual disclosure statement; (a) all elected officials (b) all department heads, (c) all members of the Zoning Board, Planning Board, Conservation Board, Board of Ethics, Trails Task Force, Board of Assessment Reiview, Economic Development Board, Historic Preservation Board, Insurance Review Committee, Library Board, Open Space and Farmland Preservation & Farmland Protection Task Force, Public Safety Committee, Recreation Commission, Youth Board, and Computer & Information Advisory Commission. ">
§12-11: No member of the Ethics Board shall make a contribution to or participate in any Town of Orchard Park political campaigns pertaining to any Town office. ">
§12-11 Add: Continuous service on the Ethics Board shall not exceed 2 full time terms, a total of 10 years. ">
§12-23 Add: An Annual Report shall be submitted by the Ethics Board prior to March 1 of each year. ">
At such time all interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard at such Public Hearing. ">
