On Line Registration – Click here to register on line.   This will take you to an external web page.  Please be advised that a surcharge is applied to on line registrations.   Surcharge Fees:  a minimum of $2.00 or 6 & ˝ % plus $0.50 for each transaction.  A senior discount does not apply on line.  *Programs are not available online after the start date or if there is only 1 enrollment left in the class. Surcharges and convenience fees are non-refundable. If a program is full please call the office to be added to the wait list. We recommend that you DO NOT register for free programs online.

The Recreation Commission serves as an advisory Board to the Town of Orchard Park. The seven-member commission meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Municipal Building in the Supervisor's conference room on the second floor.

The Recreation Commission was established pursuant to Section 243 of the New York State General Municipal Law in 1998.

The following is an outline of responsibilities of the Recreation Commission:

  • Provide management and operating advice to the Town Board and the Recreation Director on existing Town programs and facilities.
  • Promote and publicize Town Recreation programs and facilities.
  • Determine need and develop plans for future recreation programs, facilities and recreation revenue sources.
  • Interact with the Planning and Conservation Boards with regard to new subdivision recreational area requirements.
  • Review requests for new recreation proposals as may be presented by outside agencies or groups.
  • Review and monitor usage of Town facilities and make recommendations for repairs and/or improvements.
  • Interact regularly with the Recreation Director and the Senior Director on recreation planning matters.

  1. Burmon Playground: Located on Abbott Road. Approximately 13.50 acres. Facilities Include: Tot Lot, 2 Tennis Courts, Basketball Court, Club House/Storage Facility, and a .52 mile track.
  2. Honeycrest Playground: Located on Lakewood Dr. Approximately 15.0 acres. Facilities Include: 60' Baseball Diamond, Basketball Court, Picnic Tables, Recreation Building.
  3. Veteran's Park: Located on W. Quaker St. Approximately 0.20 acres. Facilities Include: Passive area, Park Benchs.
  4. Brush Mountain Park: Located on California Rd. Approximately 75.40 acres. Facilities Include: 4 Baseball diamonds, Recreation Building.
  5. Yates Park / Green Lake: Located on S. Buffalo St. Approximately 51.0 acres. Facilities Include: Tot lot, Swings, Picnic Area, 90' Baseball Diamond, Little League Fields, Beach Front Swimming Area, Bath House / Restrooms, Basketball Court, Bocce Courts, 4 Shelters, Recreation Building, Hiking Trails, Boating Access, Storage Building.
  6. Orchard Meadows Playground: Located on Old Orchard La. Approximately 7.35 acres. Facilities Include: Tot Lot w/ Wooden Structure Playground, Park Benches, Picnic Benches, picnic Tables, 2 Tennis Courts, Basketball Court, Softball Diamond.
  7. Eagle Heights Playground: Located on Pawtucket Row Approximately 10.60 acres. Facilities Include: Tot Lot, Park Benches, ˝ Basketball Court.
  8. Birdsong Park: Located on Jewett Holmwood Rd. Approximately 60 acres. Facilities Include: Passive Area, Nature Trails, and open play areas.
  9. Milestrip Road Recreation Complex: Located at 6909 Milestrip Road. Approximately 5 acres of Playing Fields and passive nature area.

Town Parks are open from dawn until dusk. Parking stickers(for Residents only) are required to park at Yates Park/Green Lake and may be obtained from the Town Clerk's Office or the Recreation Office. Bring vehicle registration and proof of residency.

Picnic Shelters & Boat Permits Link:

Picnic Shelters are available at Green Lake for rental Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from May to September.  Call 662-6450 to make a reservation. 

·         Shelter #1 is $50.00.  It includes 9 Tables, 3 grills, 1 garbage can

·         Shelter’s #2 is $35.00.  It includes 3 Tables, Handicap accessible, access to power, 1 grill, 1 garbage can

·         Shelter #3 is $35.00.  It includes 3 tables, 1 grill, 1 garbage can

·         Shelter #4 is $35.00.  It includes 3 Tables, 2 garbage cans, 1 grill 

All parks open at sunrise and close at sunset.  Individuals in charge must have this Permit on his or her person during the times listed and be present to prove claim of shelter(s).  A permit holder representative must be at the shelter by 8AM.  Permits will be revoked and Legal Action instituted for vandalism, lettering, rowdyism, excessive noise, public intoxication, illlegal parking, in all Town of Orchard Park parks.  No electrical recepticles, grills or guarantees of additional accommodations are provided by the Town.  Parking is permitted only where designated.  No motor vehicles are allowed in playground/shelter area.  Shelters cannot be used for profit making ventures.  No beer trucks are allowed, no beer or liquor bottles, only cans are allowed.  Should any differences occur regarding a challenge to the authenticity of this permit by another group or individual, please contact the Park Supervisor.  A fee per shelter is required to reserve a shelter. No refunds.  The town is not responsible for inclement weather, not limited to high wind, flooding, etc.  Use of picnic shelters is by permit only.

Park:  All Orchard Park resident's cars must have a current parking sticker (obtained at the Recreation Department by presenting a vehicle registration and driver's license).  Small children (8 and under) must be accompanied by an adult.  The recreation staff does not supervise the playground area.  Picnic shelters must be reserved at the recreation department.  Walk bikes through the park.   Skateboards and rollerblades are not permitted on the park path.  The park closes one (1/2) half hour after sunset.  Leashed dogs are allowed in the park but not near the playground.  Owners must remove any waste from the dog. 

Weddings:  The park is open to residents to have photos on a first come, first serve basis.  However, wedding ceremonies are not to be held at the park. 

Boating: 

Permits must be obtained through the recreation office during recreation hours and are FREE to residents.  The use of the playground, boating, picnic and swimming area is for Orchard Park residents and their guests only. 

Boats:

The Town of Orchard Park may revoke the permit at any time.  Boats luanched at North Lake Drive ONLY.  Time is 9:00am to 8:00pm (or dusk).  Parking area for cars with boat and car permits only.  No swimming in launch area.  Boast must stay fifty (;0) feet from all swimming areas and from the fountains.  No swimming from boats.  Coast Guard approved life jacket, properly fitted, must be worn at all times.  Proper boat hanlding and observance of Water Safety Rules shall be obeyed.  Permits must be available for checking at all times.  Parents are responsible for children knowing all the rules.  NO MOTOR BOATS ALLOWED IN THE LAKE!  BOATS MUST STAY AT LEAST FIFTY (50) FEET FROM THE FOUNTAINS.

Swimming Area:

The Beach area will open and be staffed with lifeguards starting June 25, 2007.  The scheduled hours are Monday – Saturday, 11am to 7pm and Sunday 1-7pm. 

Open swimming when lifeguards are on duty only (July and August or when posted).  Deep water will be closed if clarity does not meet Health deparment standards.  Swimming area may be closed by guards due to weather, etc.  No swimming or wading when beach is closed.  Swimming in designated areas only.  No floatation devices allowed during open swim.  No food or drink on beach.  No glass containers.  No running or games which require throwing objects on beach or in the water.  No throwing of sand or rocks.  No dogs allowed on beach area.  Infants and children must be attended by adults at ALL times, in the water and on the beach.  Proper swimming attire must be worn.  Diving from far float only.  Each year the Erie County Health Dept. issues a permit to open the bathing beach at Green Lake.  This permit determines the date of opening the lake for swimming.   The Erie Country Health officer inspects the facility and water before issuing a permit.  Weekly water samples are taken during the opening season to determine water quality.
