Senior Center Mission Statement:
The Orchard Park Senior Center is
dedicated to the enhancement of each senior's life by offering quality programs,
services and activities that contribute to each person's mental, physical and
social well being by reinforcing the belief that age has no boundaries and that
each person has a vital role in his/her community.
Seniors over the age of 55 may participate in many activities offered at the Senior Center, including the following:
- Pocket Pool - every week day from 8:30-4:00pm
- Mind Aerobics - every Monday 1:00pm
- Bingo - every Tuesday 1:00pm
- Movies - Current releases every Wednesday 1:00pm
- Current Event Discussion - every Friday 1:00pm
- Bridge - every Monday 1:00pm
- Tap Dancing - Beginners and Intermediate
- Tai Chi - Beginners and Advanced
- Yoga
- Arthritis Exercises (P.A.C.E.; People With Arthritis Can Exercise)
- Crafts classes in sewing, painting on wood, embossing greeting cards, watercolor and acrylic paint classes are just some of the classes offered throughout the year.
- Knitters and crocheters meet every Thursday at 1:00pm to create scarves, hats and mittens for the needy of the area.
- Language Instruction in Spanish and Italian are scheduled throughout the year.
- Bridge classes for the beginner and intermediate players are held throughout the year.
- Computer classes in Basic PC, Introduction to Windows, Advanced Windows, Computer Projects,
Word and Keyboard and Mouse Basics are offered from September through July.

WHEN CLASSES
ARE NOT IN SESSION, THE COMPUTER LAB IS OPEN FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO USE THE COMPUTERS
FOR RESEARCH, USE THE EMAIL OR WRITE THEIR MEMOIRS. HOWEVER, PREVIOUS COMPUTER
EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY

Beginner Line Dancing Class
The Senior Center offers a beginner line dancing
class every Wednesday at 10:15am. Those who have always wanted to learn how to line
dance but have not had the time, place or the opportunity to do so, may join the
fund every Wednesday morning. Lois Steck is the instructor. Cost for the class is a
pay as you go. Each Class is $1.50.
ORCHARD PARK KNITTERS & THOSE WHO ENJOY CROCHETING
Want to spend an afternoon amongst friends while knitting or crocheting for a
worthy project? Why not join our friendly goup, every Thursday at 1:00pm as
they knit or crochet lap robes, mittens and hats. Seniors who wish to join
the ladies for friendly "chit chat" while creating a project are welcome to
join this group.
PINOCHLE
Pinochle anyone? If you enjoy a friendly game of
pinochle, with a friendly goup of seniors, then join us every Tuesday
afternoon at 1:00PM. Everyone is welcome.
DUPLICATE BRIDGE TOURNAMENT
The Center holds a Duplicate Bridge Tournament
on the first Monday of every month.
CHAIR MASSAGE,
Andrea Stoos, LMT will offer 15 minute chair massages to seniors at the
Senior Center. This is a great way to relieve tension and soothe tired
neck and shoulder muscles. Kathleen will be giving massages on Fridays.
Cost for 15 minutes is $8.00. Contact the Center to make an appointment.
Walk-ins will be taken only if space is available.
Nutrition Program
Delicious hot lunches are served promptly at noon Monday through Friday. The Program
is open to Erie County seniors over the age of 60 and their spouses. A contribution
of $2.25 is suggested. Reservation for a particular week are made by calling
Jean Bayuse at 662-8378 by 10:00am the preceding Thursday.
Rural Van Service
Friendly volunteer drivers are available to enable seniors, disabled persons,
and members of families with low-to-moderate household incomes to keep medical
appointments, go shopping, or run personal errands. Contributions of $2.00 for
regular van service and $4.00 for wheelchair van service are suggested. Eligible
residents of Orchard Park and Aurora should call 662-8378 for regular van and
549-5098 for wheelchair van.
Telephone Assurance Program
Under the sponsorship of the Orchard Park Senior Center T.A.P. serves seniors
throughout Erie County. Seniors, sixty-plus (60+) and living alone, who need a friendly
call to check on their well-being, may avail themselves of this free service. T.A.P.
is funded by Erie County Dept. of Senior Services and New York State Office of the
Aging, United Way and Corrdinated Care. For further information on becoming a T.A.P.

Other Services
Other services offered at the Senior Center include:
Free blood pressure screening every Monday from 1-3pm
55 Alive defensive driving classes the last Thursday and Friday of every month
Tax preparation assistance from February through April 15 every year.
LIONS CLUB LOAN CLOSET-
If you or one of your loved ones have recently been
discharged from the hospital or nursing home and need the use of a wheelchair,
crutches, portable commodes, risers, or other equipment you may want to check out
the Red Cross Loan Closet at the Town Hall.
There is no charge for this service. So before you go out and purchase this equipment,
check out the Lions Club Loan Closet at the Town Clerk's Office located in the
Town Hall or call 662-6410.
