Monthly Town Board Meeting Schedule - First and Third Wednesday at 7 PM

Worksessions are held each Wednesday in the Supervisor Conference Room, and are open to the public. The notice boards in the the Town Hall lobby should be checked for cancellations and rescheduled meetings.

All meetings are held in the Municipal Center and are open to the public. Additional special or public hearings may be scheduled during the year and are publicized in advance in the Orchard Park Press and on the Town's web site.

    I SUPERVISOR'S CALL TO ORDER:

    III OLD BUSINESS:

    1. Town IT Coordinator, R. Paul Warriner, requesting to attend the NYS Local Government Information Technology Directors’ Association Spring 2010 Conference in Saratoga Springs, from May 11th to the 14th, the cost is not to exceed $300.00. (Tabled at 2/17/10 meeting)

    2. Westlake Development is respectfully requesting an extension of the approvals for Walgreen’s Store #12272 at Union Road and Michael Road. The current approvals expire one year from issuance or March 4, 2010. They have experienced unanticipated delays in obtaining the documentation required to obtain the building permit.

    3. Purchase of a new 2010 Trailer Mounted Brush Chipper, from Vermeer Northeast, 1235 Route 9, Castleton, NY 12033, as requested by Highway Superintendent.

    IV NEW BUSINESS:

    1. Highway Superintendent, Fred Piasecki, requesting a trip to Albany to attend the meeting with State Legislators concerning Highway (Chips Funding) to Towns. Cost not to exceed $130.00 on March 9th and 10th, 2010. Money is in the budget.

    2. Town Clerk, Carol Hutton, requesting to attend the 2010 NYS Town Clerks Association Conference April 25th-April 28, 2010 in Saratoga , NY , the money is in the budget.

    3. The Nativity of Our Lord Parish is seeking approval to plan a 5K Race/Walk to celebrate the end of a wonderful summer in Orchard Park and the beginning of a new school year. They are hoping to secure the date of Monday September 6, 2010. The run/walk will begin at 10 a.m. from the Nativity of Our Lord School parking lot.

    4. Robert Schosek, 3892 Abbott Road, located on the west side of Abbott Road, south of Southwestern Blvd., Zoned B-2. (SBL# 161.00-5-13) Applicant is requesting permission to operate a small engine repair shop and landscaping business with over the counter sales of related small parts in an existing building on this site.

    5. John A. Wabick, West Herr Saturn, 3559 Southwestern Boulevard, located in the Auto Mall area on the south east side of Southwestern Boulevard between Milestrip Road and Breem Street, Zoned B2. (SBL# 161.07-7-11.2) Applicant is requesting a Change-In-Use to convert former Saturn retail sales building into a NAPA franchise parts retail and wholesale center. (SBL# 161.07-7-11.2)

    VII APPROVAL OF BILLS:Warrant #5

    VIII COMMUNICATIONS:

    • State of New York, Department of Transportation conducted a study related to concerns expressed regarding Route 240/277 (North Buffalo Street). They have completed their review of the signal coordination study along Route 240/Route 277, in the Town and Village of Orchard Park. As a result, their study, has determined that the most effective method to improve traffic flow and increase Route 240/277 corridor efficiency is by coordinating the signals that are closely spaced, and by adjusting the timing of the signals which are further apart or have higher cross road traffic volumes as stand alone signals.

    • A Public Hearing will be conducted by the Erie County Board of Health in Room 904 of the Rath County Office Building, 95 Franklin Street in the City of Buffalo, New York on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. concerning amendments to the Erie County Sanitary Code, Article IX concerning Housing Hygiene and Property Maintenance. These amendments are being made to conform with New York State Sanitary Code regulations.
